Jute Yarn Manufacturer Bangladesh: Grades, Counts and the Language of the Trade
Sourcing jute yarn from a Bangladesh manufacturer means navigating a grade system that is specific to the industry and not always self-explanatory to buyers outside spinning and weaving. The grades, CB, CRM, CRT, CRX, Hessian, Sacking, describe the raw-fibre quality used and, by extension, the fineness, lustre and end-use suitability of the yarn. Understanding them is the starting point for any accurate specification.
Jute yarn count is expressed in pounds per spyndle (lbs), where a higher number means a finer, lighter yarn. A 6-lb yarn is coarse and heavy; a 32-lb yarn is fine and used for lightweight hessian weaving. Most industrial buyers work in the 8–20 lb range. Ply indicates how many single strands are twisted together: 1-ply is a single-strand yarn; 2-ply is two singles twisted together for added strength; 3-ply is used for rope, twine and heavy industrial applications.
