Jute Geotextile Supplier: What It Is, How It Works and Why Engineers Specify It
A jute geotextile, also marketed as "soil saver" matting or jute erosion-control blanket, is an open-weave fabric manufactured from jute yarn and laid directly onto disturbed soil surfaces to slow water runoff, prevent particle detachment and create a stable microenvironment for vegetation establishment. Unlike polypropylene or polyester geotextiles, jute matting is 100% biodegradable: it degrades in soil over 12–24 months depending on weight and moisture conditions, enriching the ground as it breaks down rather than leaving a synthetic residue.
As a jute geotextile supplier, Zayin produces matting in weights from 500 to 980 gsm (grams per square metre), with mesh densities and widths specified to match the installation and the hydraulic conditions of the project. The heavier the mat, the longer it resists degradation, giving the vegetation more time to establish before the soil is exposed again.
