Why jute for rice and wheat
Grain is alive in transit: it respires, releases moisture and builds heat, and if that moisture has nowhere to go it condenses and the load moulds. Jute's open, breathable weave lets grain shed humidity, which is exactly why rice, wheat and paddy have moved in jute sacks for over a century and why plastic (which seals moisture in) is a liability for unconditioned grain. We weave rice and wheat bags in our own mill in Bangladesh and treat them food-grade, so the sack protects the grain instead of tainting it.
Sizes, weights and weaves
The workhorse is the 50 kg sack at about 40″ × 22″, ~400 g, in a breathable hessian or light sacking weave. For heavier handling we supply 80 and 100 kg sizes in stronger weaves. Match the weave to the load: B-Twill for full ~100 kg loads, Binola for economical ~90 kg oilseed and grain, and lighter hessian for 50 kg rice. Tell us the commodity and fill weight and we will specify the right sack.
Food-grade (VOT) for grain contact
Standard jute is often batched with mineral (hydrocarbon) oil, which leaves an odour and is not suitable for food. Our rice and wheat bags are supplied VOT, Vegetable Oil Treated, hydrocarbon-free and odourless, with declarations aligned to EU food-contact expectations (Regulation 1935/2004) available on request. The bags are also naturally resistant to mould and insects when stored correctly.
Crop-year marking and branding
For traceability and resale, we print weight, crop year, grade and your brand on the sack in food-safe ink, single or multi-colour. This is standard for rice and wheat buyers who need lot identification down the chain.
Ordering: MOQ & container loading
Bags are baled and bound for export. A 20′ FCL of 50 kg rice sacks runs into the tens of thousands of bags; see our how many jute bags fit in a 20ft container guide for the figures, or send your size and quantity for an exact load and quote. MOQ is generally one FCL for plain bags; printed runs carry a higher minimum.
